Winning Combinations – Revisited

A few weeks back we touched on the subject of “Winning Trainer/Jockey” combinations, and the ability of this handicapping angle to point horseplayers towards winning wagers. While this information is readily available, normally at a cost, to horseplayers through various services, it is very easy to assemble for any track you follow – you don’t need anything more than the daily results. Over time you will be able to see which trainers use which jockeys when they are pointing for “a score.”

As part of our initial article we listed the top Train/Jockey combinations at Gulfstream Park. With information accumulated through January 17, we had a fairly limited list of eight winning combinations. Now that we’re further along in the meet, many more winning combinations have surfaced – increasing our list four-fold.

Through February 6, these are the top Train/Jockey combinations at Gulfstream Park. The number in parentheses before the trainer indicates the number of wins that trainer has at the current meet. The number in parentheses following the jockey indicates the number of wins they have for each trainer.

Before you get down to the nuts-and-bolts of your handicapping, scan the entries and make a note of any winning trainer/jockey combination on this list. You will then have a visual reference when you turn to that race in your program or racing form – reminding you to take another look at what could be a winning combination.
